2.1. Review 1 : “A Special Staycation in Myeongdong: Review of Moxy by Marriott Seoul Myeongdong”

Summary of the Blog Post

I recently stayed at Moxy by Marriott Seoul Myeongdong, located in the heart of Myeongdong. Upon arrival, I noticed a high proportion of international guests. Although check-in was at 4 PM, I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a corner room as a Platinum Elite member. The friendly service during check-in and the welcome drinks made a great first impression.

The hotel layout was somewhat complex, but the check-in lobby was on the 4th floor, requiring some navigation to distinguish it from the adjacent Le Meridien Myeongdong. My room was spacious and comfortable, although the bathroom setup was a bit lacking. However, the presence of an air purifier and a water dispenser was a thoughtful touch.

While Moxy Seoul Myeongdong lacks fitness facilities, the Moxy Bar offered a range of affordable drinks and snacks. With a microwave and free coffee machines available, convenience was key. I enjoyed my welcome drinks in the evening and found the breakfast the next morning to be a semi-buffet style, which was reasonably priced and satisfying.

Overall, Moxy Seoul Myeongdong is a suitable hotel for younger travelers or couples looking to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Myeongdong. However, the room rates seemed a bit high compared to the service and amenities offered.

  • Location: In the heart of Myeongdong, operates alongside Le Meridien Myeongdong
  • Check-in: 4 PM, upgraded to corner room as a Platinum Elite member
  • Room: Spacious and comfortable, equipped with an air purifier and water dispenser
  • Facilities: No fitness center, affordable drinks and snacks available at Moxy Bar
  • Breakfast: Semi-buffet style, reasonably priced and satisfactory
  • Overall Impression: Suitable for younger travelers or couples, slightly high room rates are a downside.

2.2. Review 2 : “A Great Value Hotel in Myeongdong, Review of MOXY Seoul Myeongdong”

Summary of the Blog Post

I’d like to share my recent stay at MOXY Seoul Myeongdong, a hotel known for its great value among the Marriott chain. Other similarly priced options include Fairfield, Four Points, and Aloft, but I often find MOXY and Aloft to be ideal for a staycation.

My stay took place from February 24 to 25, 2024, and I chose MOXY Seoul Myeongdong for its hip and casual atmosphere, especially after a disappointing experience at MOXY Insadong in January. I had avoided this hotel previously because it shares a building with Le Meridien, which made me gravitate towards the latter.

Parking is convenient with free valet service available for those with a Shinhan Marriott Bonvoy card. Upon check-in, I received a welcome drink coupon at the MOXY lounge on the 4th floor, which also serves as a dining space for dinner and breakfast. The lounge was cozy, equipped with various entertainment options and even a fire pit for guests to enjoy. Later that evening, I returned to enjoy a non-alcoholic cocktail in a cozy corner by the window.

The room itself is compact at 22 square meters, reminiscent of the setup at MOXY Insadong. The bed was plush and comfortable, allowing my husband and me to enjoy a deep sleep. The large window provided excellent natural light, and the coffee was from Illy, with tea from Osulloc. I appreciated the cute retro phone and the space-efficient design with wall-mounted tables and chairs.

The bathroom featured a spacious shower booth, and at the time of my stay, disposable toiletries were still provided, which was convenient.

Breakfast was served in the lounge from 6:30 to 10 AM, featuring a good variety of Korean side dishes and healthy options. Rice was freshly cooked in an electric rice cooker, and fresh fruits and vegetables were also available. I felt that this breakfast selection was slightly better than what was offered at MOXY Insadong.

In summary, MOXY Seoul Myeongdong is located in the heart of Myeongdong, with a one-night stay priced in the mid-200,000 won range, making it an excellent value hotel. With its location, price, room condition, and breakfast quality, I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a budget-friendly hotel in Seoul.

  • Stay Period: February 24 – 25, 2024
  • Parking: Free valet service with Shinhan Marriott Bonvoy card
  • Check-in: Welcome drink provided at the MOXY lounge on the 4th floor
  • Room: 22 square meters, plush bed, large window for good lighting
  • Bathroom: Spacious shower booth, disposable toiletries provided
  • Breakfast: Korean side dishes and healthy options offered in the lounge
  • Overall Impression: Located in Myeongdong, priced around 200,000 won per night, highly recommended for value seekers.

2.3. Review 3 : “Moxy Seoul Myeongdong’s Facilities: A Mix of Pros and Cons”

Summary of the Blog Post

I’d like to share my insights on the facilities of Moxy Seoul Myeongdong, a new hotel that opened on November 25, 2022. As a dual-brand hotel alongside Le Meridien Seoul Myeongdong, it boasts excellent value for money, but its facilities are somewhat limited.

Located at 38, Myeongdong 8na-gil, Jung-gu, the hotel features B1 as the main entrance with valet parking available. If you’re driving, you can access the hotel through the alley between Post Tower and Aloft Seoul Myeongdong. Initially, valet parking is free, but it will become paid after a period.

The check-in counter is located on the 4th floor, where guests can access a welcome drink and grab-and-go snacks at Moxy Bar. Platinum members receive a 10,000 won credit that can be used at the grab-and-go and Moxy Bar. Additionally, guests can choose between juice and cocktails for their welcome drink upon check-in.

The facilities at Moxy Seoul Myeongdong are rather limited. The 4th-floor lobby features the check-in counter and a grab-and-go that operates 24/7, allowing room charges for convenience. However, there are no fitness facilities, and guests cannot use the fitness amenities at Le Meridien. Instead, there are various seating options and gaming machines for guests to use as a space to relax.

After checking in, I returned to my room to enjoy some snacks and drinks while relaxing. The rooms are equipped with a 55-inch TV, making it a comfortable place to spend a day watching TV. However, the lack of extensive facilities can be a downside. The hotel seems to cater primarily to foreign tourists.

In conclusion, Moxy Seoul Myeongdong is well-located in the heart of Myeongdong, offering affordable accommodations. However, the limited facilities may disappoint those looking for athletic or diverse amenities. Nonetheless, it could be an excellent choice for those wanting to relax and watch TV.

  • Location: 38, Myeongdong 8na-gil, Jung-gu
  • Parking: B1 valet parking, initially free, then paid
  • Check-in: 4th-floor check-in counter, welcome drink, and 10,000 won credit provided
  • Facilities: Grab-and-go (24/7), Moxy Bar, no fitness center
  • Rooms: Equipped with a 55-inch TV, space for snacks and drinks
  • Overall Impression: Centrally located in Myeongdong, affordable stay but limited facilities may be disappointing.
