In January 2023, I stayed at Courtyard Marriott Seoul Namdaemun for nearly two weeks in a suite, enjoying various aspects of my experience. I had previously visited with a friend and remembered the hotel for its excellent location and food and beverage services. I was curious about the changes due to COVID-19, but overall, the service remained satisfactory.
Upon checking in, a large Christmas tree adorned the lobby, and thanks to my Marriott Titanium tier status, I received an upgrade to a suite. The suite was spacious, featuring a living room, a bedroom with a king bed, and two bathrooms, which was very convenient. Although the view from the 6th floor was not as impressive as expected, keeping the curtains closed minimized the issue.
The room was clean and well-maintained, and I appreciated the pre-provided humidifier, which was helpful in the dry environment. However, the TV lacked smart features, which was a bit disappointing. Both bathrooms had shower rooms instead of bathtubs, but I personally found this acceptable. Additionally, the room layout allowed for using the sofa as an extra bed without needing to request one.
The executive lounge on the 22nd floor was less impressive than before due to fewer food options, although the variety of alcoholic beverages remained decent. The fitness center, located in the basement, provided a quiet space for exercise.
Breakfast was served in the Momo Café on the 2nd floor, featuring pastries and a noodle station that I particularly enjoyed. However, the overall quality of breakfast felt lower than before, possibly due to the Christmas season. The hotel’s location was excellent, with easy access to Namdaemun Market, Shinsegae Department Store, and Lotte Department Store. I especially recommend trying the galchi-jorim alley and the tiramisu from the nearby café, Gabaedo.
The hotel is conveniently located near the airport railroad and Seoul Station, making it a great choice for travelers. The friendliness of the staff from check-in to check-out left a lasting impression, and I concluded my stay at Courtyard Marriott Seoul Namdaemun feeling very satisfied.
