I booked ‘Aloft Seoul Myeongdong’ for my Seoul trip accommodation. And here’s a fresh review of my stay on Saturday, June 3rd. The reason for choosing Aloft Myeongdong was primarily the location, not just for the first, but also for the second and third times.

I went to the hotel by bus to drop off my luggage even before check-in. I got off at Lotte Young Plaza and arrived within a 1-minute walk.

The lobby was small but neat. Since it’s Myeongdong, it seemed like more than 80% of the guests were foreigners.

When I asked the front desk to store my luggage, they offered to process my check-in at the same time! They told me that I only needed to pick up my room key later when I enter the room.

Aloft Seoul Myeongdong : elevator

I came to pick up my luggage and room key a little after 5 o’clock. I was assigned to room 1509! I got a room on a relatively high floor. There are two elevators, and you don’t need to scan your room key to use them.

I arrived at room 1509.

Aloft Seoul Myeongdong : twin room

It’s a standard twin room. Despite many reviews saying that the room was small, it was better than I expected!

I initially booked a double room, but I was assigned a twin room because all double rooms were fully booked.

The bed is soft and the bedding is nice. The long cushion was comfortable to use as a body pillow!

There is a narrow table between the twin beds. It would have been nice to have one more outlet.

The two bottles of water inside the refrigerator are free!

There’s a water purifier in front of the 7th room line on each floor. After you finish the bottled water, you can use the water purifier.

The bathroom has a toilet and a shower booth, and there are three towels provided.

Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are not individual amenities but in dispensers.

Everything else is fine, but the water pressure of the shower head is a bit weak…

Additionally, toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, body lotion, shower cap, and cleansing kit are provided. Recently, many places do not provide toothpaste and toothbrushes, but this place does provide them.

The hairdryer is placed on one side of the bathroom.

Aloft Seoul Myeongdong : city view

The view from room 1509 was a city view with large corporations like Hanjin and Lotte visible. It felt just like being on a trip to Seoul!!

As the evening came, the view became even more beautiful!

Actually, the biggest concern when booking accommodation was noise. There were reviews mentioning noise from protestors since the hotel is located near Seoul City Hall. When I entered the hotel around 5 PM, it was quiet, and I thought I could sleep peacefully that night. However, around 8 PM, there was noise as the protesters passed by.

It was a bit bothersome, but maybe because the TV was on, the noise wasn’t too loud. Fortunately, it was quiet when it was time to sleep!!

There is a large window next to the hallway elevator, and you can see the main branch of Shinsegae Department Store from here!

During the year-end season, the exterior of Shinsegae Department Store is decorated in a Christmas atmosphere, and they say you can comfortably see it from here.

Aloft Seoul Myeongdong : check out

I had a good sleep and woke up around 10 AM, packed my belongings, and checked out. If there are no additional charges, you just need to put the room key in the checkout box in front of the first-floor elevator!

The best advantage of Aloft Myeongdong is its location. It has great access to Deoksugung, Euljiro Entrance, Myeongdong, and Namdaemun.

If I had to name a disadvantage, it would be the water pressure in the shower and the noise from the protestors…? However, the noise isn’t actually a problem of the hotel itself. As my purpose wasn’t a staycation, I wasn’t bothered too much by the noise.

If I have to choose accommodation in Seoul with the same schedule, I will book Aloft Myeongdong again!

That’s it for my honest review of Aloft Seoul Myeongdong.
